It’s no secret that DragonSearch has been a proponent of the Hudson Valley tech scene for a long time now. Despite our NYC presence, and the fact that we have clients from Massachusetts to Michigan (and beyond), we’ve always been headquartered right here in Ulster County’s Kingston, NY. Ulster County is a great spot for tech businesses – roughly an hour from both New York City and Albany. A close 3 hour drive to Boston, Providence or Hartford and two hours from five major domestic and international airports. If you’re located in Kingston, you can get almost anywhere… easily.
Aside from the geographical convenience, Ulster County has a lot of other perks. It’s home to the Shawangunk Ridge, a mountain range that provides near endless opportunities for outdoor activities like rock climbing, hiking, mountain biking, fishing and more. Ulster County also has a thriving cultural scene with excellent dining, festivals, music, arts & more. You can leave the office and grab dinner at locally sourced and top-rated restaurants. You can alternatively find yourself deep in the serene woods of the Shawangunks and Catskill Mountains. Whatever your pleasure, you can find it here.
Ulster For Business
It’s for these reasons that DragonSearch calls Ulster County home, and we’re not alone. Mere miles from our office you’ll run into Ellenbogen Media, a top-notch creative company that produces award-winning video, digital design and animation solutions. Across the street is Anchor ID, a startup that seeks to revolutionize the way we look at online passwords and security. Need a branding firm? Raleigh Green is available for logo design and branding solutions. These are just a handful of local tech entrepreneurs – there are dozens more and we could spend all day talking about them.
We’re proud to number among the tech companies that call Ulster County home, and we’re excited to partner with County Executive Mike Hein and the Ulster County Office of Economic Development as part of the Ulster For Business campaign. Last week we offered up our new office space to host a press conference discussing the Ulster For Business campaign and how it will continue to develop this thriving area.
The resources available in the burgeoning Ulster business scene allow for all the opportunities you would find in NYC, while offering a lower cost of living and greater access to the wealth of culture and outdoor opportunities that this area provides. We’ve known this for years, and now we’re excited to help Ulster County spread the word.
